The country is ’rounding the corner into a calamity,’ expert says, with Covid-19 deaths projected to double soon


As Thanksgiving week draws to an end, more experts are warning the Covid-19 pandemic will likely get much worse in the coming weeks before a possible vaccine begins to offer some relief.

More than 205,000 new cases were reported Friday — which likely consists of both Thursday and Friday reports in some cases, as at least 20 states did not report Covid-19 numbers on Thanksgiving.

Food glorious food

The town of Brookline is still trying to lose weight. Lots of it. And, as with most diets, food is the culprit. Lots of it. 

Nine hundred twenty-three households are taking the weight loss challenge. They’re subscribing to Black Earth Compost, or another private service, for curbside collection of food waste. They’re diverting organics from the waste stream. You’ll see their small green carts at the curb on Monday mornings. Every pound of kitchen scraps in the cart is a pound that we don’t have to pay to have incinerated. Every pound of food waste we compost helps to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere.

We only need 77 more households to get to our first goal of 1000 BEC subscribers. Anybody? Anybody?
